KUALA LUMPUR: A dashcam footage depicting a reckless and speeding blue Proton Iriz driver has caused outrage among netizens.

The video shared by user @HezeriSamsuri has garnered 468,000 views and continues to gain traction since its upload earlier today on X.

The brief 30-second clip captured the blue Iriz making a rapid lane change from the middle to the fast lane without signaling, displaying a 'Fast and Furious' style of driving.

Suddenly and unexpectedly, the Iriz driver hit the brakes, forcing the car to halt abruptly.

Fortunately, the driver with the dashcam reacted promptly, managing to stop just in time to avoid rear-ending the 'Lamborghini-esque' car due to its sudden stop.

In his tweet, @HezeriSamsuri sarcastically likened the Proton Iriz to a Lamborghini due to the driver's excessive speed, humorously suggesting that the vehicle was being driven as if it were a high-end sports car.

"Poor blue Lamborghini driver. They forgot that people already have dash cams. But the driver seems happy, since the whole world has seen the fancy spoiler.

"Mission accomplished. Tomorrow, try cutting (the line) in front of a trailer in Port Klang, let's see who wins."

The video received significant backlash from social media users, with many expressing criticism towards the reckless driving behavior by the Iriz driver.

User @kerorol13 inquired whether actions such as illegal brake checks could be subject to prosecution under road traffic laws.

"Can actions like illegal brake checks be prosecuted under road traffic laws? For instance, if we have a dashcam and 'accidentally' hit their car from behind. Can we take this case to the police station?"

Meanwhile, @twt_lutfi emphasised the importance of responsible driving habits.

"It's okay to drive fast, but make sure to change lanes using signals, give a couple of seconds for others to understand your lane change, and when the road is clear, then accelerate.

"Doing this during heavy traffic without signaling is not right," he said.

Another user, @syamm54, said that individuals displaying such driving behaviour should face the consequence of having their licence revoked.
