SEGAMAT: A recent fishing dispute between two anglers at Lubok Kepong river in Segamat has been successfully resolved.

It was learnt that both parties had filed police reports with the aim of settling the matter peacefully.

Prompt action was then taken by the police after a video depicting the fishing dispute went viral on social media.

A meeting was subsequently arranged with the two individuals, the Segamat police, Segamat Fisheries Department, and the village chiefs in response to the filed police reports.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), the issue has been cleared up through good cooperation," stated the police in a statement. "We hope this matter will not be prolonged."

Earlier reports indicated that a man stirred controversy by claiming ownership of a river in Johor, prohibiting others from fishing there.

The incident, captured in a video shared on TikTok by user Azrol Saad, showed the man confronting individuals fishing on a boat and asserting his authority over the river.

In the latest video posted by Azrol, both parties were seen sitting at a table with a police personnel, affirming that they had reconciled.

"Today, we are not fishing because we want to resolve the issue that occurred. Basically, there is no issue. We are like siblings now..." mentioned one angler in a brown shirt.

Netizens expressed relief that the matter has been resolved.

Some raised questions about the ownership of the river, with one user, MLBB, asking, "If I may ask, whose river is it anyway?"

Another user, eva, echoed a similar question, "So is it true that it was his (man in the white cap) father's river?"

User say_keyme humorously suggested, "So everything was settled in front of the police, maybe next time pakcik can bring the police when going out to fish. Stay healthy pakciks."
