GEORGE TOWN: Your average price of a decent plate of nasi kandar would normally range anywhere from RM10 to RM20. But one eatery in Penang has had one sold for 10 times that, at RM218.
Nasi Kandar Sulaiman at Jalan Air Itam here has taken to its Facebook page to announce that it broke a record for their most expensive plate ever billed.
To fetch that price, the plate, the restaurant said, came with a "mountain" of squid curry.
"RM218. Record breaking. An all-time record.
"A customer had it for RM218. I can't imagine it myself. He's the first person to reach over RM200.
"Simply amazing. Unexpected. A Penangite," the post said.
The post came with several photographs of the food and the customer.
The post has since garnered 2,300 reactions, 884 comments and shared more than 400 times.
Netizen Liz Art Rashid commented "Seriously? Can eat that much? He is definitely the Champion Of The Nasi Kandar."
Nor Azean Yayan said the food there was cheap.
"My whole family went that day and the bill did not even reach RM80.
"But we went a little late and there were not many choices then," Nor Azean said.
