KUALA LUMPUR: A man's kind gesture of leaving a note with a car battery delivery service contact number on a couple's car has been praised by netizens.

In a tweet posted by Ooi Beng Cheang last Monday, he recounted the incident that unfolded at a local shopping mall parking lot.

He noticed a car in the parking lot that had been left with its headlights on and decided to take action.

He promptly wrote a note and placed it on the car's windshield, providing the car's owner with the contact number of a car battery delivery service he had previously used.

The note read "If your car cannot start, (it means) your battery is dead (because) you left the headlights on. Call this number for battery delivery."

Upon returning to his own car, Ooi saw the couple sitting inside the vehicle, discovering that their car couldn't start.

The couple then dialed the provided number and waited for the delivery man to arrive.

According to Ooi, this was not the first time he had encountered such a situation.

"This has happened to me twice before. The second time occurred in a mall and I had to spend some time searching for a reliable contact.

"I just want to save someone the hassle of going through the same thing," he added.

Ooi's kind gesture quickly garnered praise from netizens on Twitter.

"Such a sweet thought. You saved someone yesterday. May God enlighten your path," said Matt Hamzah.

Fadzly also praised Ooi, acknowledging him as a hero, saying "You deserve to be praised, my good sir. If I were in that situation, I would be panicking."

"You are so thoughtful Mr Ooi. May God bless you for your kindness," said Oxfomusa.

Inspired by Ooi's kindness, other netizens also offered additional suggestions for dealing with similar situations.

"You can go to the mall information counter or customer service and provide them with the license plate number. They can help inform the owner," said Injeolmi.

Another user Pojie Memojie emphasised the importance of having a breakdown assistance number, saying "If this happens to you, call your motor insurance company as they surely offer such services."

The tweet has received over 580,000 views and 2,000 retweets to date.
