KUANTAN: Unfit bus drivers are often blamed for accidents which claim the lives of the innocent passengers.
Below is a compilation of the bus crashes where the drivers were deemed unfit, taken to court for reckless driving and being behind the wheel under the influence of drugs.
June 29, 2024: Tour bus driver in Genting Highlands crash in Bentong did not have a driving licence and had 27 previous traffic summonses for various offences. He has been detained for investigations.
May 23, 2019: A stage bus driver was charged with causing the death of a teenager and injuring eight others in an accident at Jalan Pantai-Bukit Tangga, Negri Sembilan.
Dec 6, 2017: An express bus driver was charged with driving the vehicle in a reckless manner which resulted in the death of a woman passenger along the North-South Expressway in Perak.
March 27, 2017: An express bus driver was charged for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving along the North-South Expressway. A passenger was killed.
Aug 21, 2007: A passenger was killed after an express bus overturned in Gua Musang, Kelantan and the driver was alleged to have had little rest before the journey. A second driver who was supposed to board the bus was not onboard that trip.
