KOTA BARU: The Communications Ministry, through the Kelantan Information Department (JaPen), is ready to work with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth running of the upcoming Nenggiri state by-election this August.

Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (strategic communications and creative industry) Nik Kamarulzaman Nik Husin said JaPen and the Election Commission (EC) would also utilise various platforms to encourage voters to fulfil their responsibilities.

"We will also assist the electorate in checking their voter status, especially those in remote areas within the constituency," he told reporters after officiating the 'Jiwa Komuniti Madani' programme for the Ketereh parliamentary constituency at Sekolah Kebangsaan Melor last night.

The EC has set Aug 17 as polling day for the Nenggiri state by-election, with the nomination day on Aug 3 and early voting on Aug 13.
