KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition member of parliament Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim got Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan in "trouble" today when he cheekily asked the Dewan Rakyat speaker whether it was okay for him to wear batik.

"If it's okay for me to wear batik today, I want to go back and change," he told Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.

Johari told Shahidan that batik can only be worn in the House on Thursdays, to which the Arau MP then turned to Ahmad and said: "Thank you, Pontian."

It was a light moment as all there could not help but laugh, including Johari himself.

Ahmad had turned up to the Dewan Rakyat wearing a batik shirt instead of a coat, perhaps mistakenly thinking it was a Thursday.

To his credit, he changed into a regular shirt and coat for the afternoon session.
