KANGAR: A woman had a miscarriage when the motorcycle she was riding with her husband was hit by an uprooted tree during a storm in Simpang Empat here today (June 23).

Kangar deputy police chief Superintendent Baeyah Abdul Wahab said Nuraleya Syazreena Roslan Anuar, 18, who was riding a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, sustained a head injury with internal bleeding.

She also suffered fractures to both hips.

Baeyah said a doctor at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here confirmed that Nuraleya had had a miscarriage.

"The victim is still being treated at the emergency ward along with her husband, Muhammad Danish Hakim Hanizam, 18, who suffered a broken right thigh."

At the time of the crash, Nuraleya was riding the motorcycle while Danish was the pillion rider.

The crash, he said, happened at 3am when the couple were returning home from a restaurant in Simpang Empat and heading for their home in Kampung Sungai Bugis.

"Fifteen minutes later, upon reaching the location, a tree fell and struck their motorcycle."
