ROMPIN: Twelve victims, including eight SK Jeram teachers, who were involved in the tour bus accident at Km 126 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Muadzam Shah here yesterday at are still receiving treatment at hospitals in Pahang, Johor and Melaka.

Rompin police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof said five of them were being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan, two at the Segamat Hospital in Johor and one each at the Melaka Hospital and Muadzam Shah Hospital here respectively.

He said three of the accident victims were receiving treatment at a private hospital.

"The 12 victims consist of eight teachers, two school clerks, a housewife and a student. The remaining 23 people have been allowed to return home," he said in a text message to the media today.

The 12.40am crash yesterday claimed the lives of four people including two SK Jeram teachers namely Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, who succumbed to her injuries at the accident scene while Dahlia Ahmad, 52, died while receiving treatment at HTAA about 9.30pm yesterday.

The tour bus second driver Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, 29, died while on the way from the accident spot to the Muadzam Shah Hospital in Rompin while SK Jeram operation assistant Hamzah Ahmad, 60, died at HTAA's red zone yesterday.

The tour bus ferrying 39 people - two drivers and 37 passengers - was travelling to Terengganu from from SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah, Melaka when it crashed into a trailer at the Bahau junction before it flipped over on its side on a slope.

The passengers were scheduled to attend a programme in Terengganu.
