KUALA LUMPUR: The Kedah state government, through KXP AirportCity Holdings Sdn Bhd (KXP AirportCity), is continuing its efforts with the Kulim International Airport (KXP) project.

Through a Facebook post, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor press secretary Muhamad Mat Yakim said Sanusi welcomed a delegation from the Henan Airport Group (HNAG) from China yesterday.

The delegation was led by HNAG corporate development director and consul general, Jia Xinming.

It was stated that, from the meeting, various topics were discussed to enhance collaboration towards realising the KXP project.

"This will serve as a strategic partner for KXP AirportCity in China once the project is completed.

"It is a key component of the Kedah Aerotropolis, set to be developed in Sidam Kiri, Kuala Muda," he said.

The visit of the HNAG delegation to Alor Setar follows a return visit by the Kedah State Government and KXP AirportCity to China at the end of last year, aimed at establishing cooperation between the two parties.

Sanusi, who is also KXP AirportCity chairman, extended an invitation to the Henan Province vive governnot , Sun Shougang, to visit Kedah.

Previously, Sanusi said that the state needed approval from the transport ministry before proceeding with land acquisition for the airport project.

Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook informed the Dewan Rakyat that two practicality studies on the Kulim airport had been submitted and would be reviewed by consultants preparing the national airports strategic plan.
