KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, was today conferred the 'Darjah Yang Maha Utama Kerabat Diraja Malaysia' (D.K.M) title by the Malaysian government.

D.K.M which translates to 'Most Excellent Order of the Royal Family of Malaysia', is a Malaysian federal award conferred to Malay rulers appointed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.

The conferment of the title to His Majesty was done by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a ceremony at Istana Negara, here.

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, was also conferred Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara (D.M.N), or 'The Most Exalted Order of the Crown of the Realm'.

Among those present at the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

Other notable invitees were Attorney General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, Army Chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
