PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry has vowed to ensure that the welfare of the Year Five pupil, who suffered from a heatstroke after being forced by a teacher to stand under the sun, is taken care of.
Minister Fadhlina Sidek said her ministry would pay close attention to him.
"He is already a pupil under our care, meaning the ministry will pay close attention to him to ensure his welfare is taken care of," she said to reporters today.
Fadhlina reiterated that the ministry would not compromise on disciplinary issues, as well as those related to abuse of power or student welfare and others.
"We give our full cooperation to the authorities for their investigations," she said after the Digital Utilisation and Technology Awards and MyDigitalMaker fair here yesterday.
Yesterday, Fadhlina told the New Straits Times that the ministry vowed that it would take appropriate actions against the parties involved once it received the investigation report by the authorities.
On Wednesday, the boy's 35-year-old mother said Ampang Hospital had already given the family a reference letter for her son to be assessed as a person with disability due to his health issues.
It is understood the 11-year-old now has a nerve condition, as a result of the heatstroke.
The mother said her son is no longer behaving normally and that now he likes to hide and talks to himself.
The family would file a civil suit.
It was reported on Monday that the boy had to be rushed to hospital after being made to stand under the sun from 10am to 12.50pm.
Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said police had completed their investigation and had handed the investigation papers over to the deputy public prosecutor's office for further action.
