KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh welcomes the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into the Selangor demand responsive transit (DRT) proof of concept.

In a post on X, Yeoh said: "Now that the probe has started, I want to see truth and vindication come out of this investigation. Malaysia deserves nothing less.

"Therefore, it would not be proper for me to comment (on the matter) as it may be construed as interference with ongoing investigations.

"In fact, it was for this reason I had not said anything sooner, as, in my view, the best way forward in dealing with such claims is to leave it to the relevant authorities to investigate them.

"I thank all who have reached out to me in solidarity," she said.

Yesterday, it was reported that the anti-graft body had initiated an investigation into the awarding of a contract to a firm linked to Yeoh's husband, following new leads received from several complaints.

According to sources, MACC received new complaints regarding the appointment of a minister's husband to provide a proof of concept for a transport project by the Selangor government.

The complaints and information have provided new leads that warrant further investigation.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya, when contacted, confirmed that several complaints and information regarding the matter have been received by the commission.

Previously, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the commission had not found any wrongdoing in the interim investigation.

He said this was because the Selangor Mobility Initiative contract was not awarded to the company by Hannah's ministry but by the state government.

However, he added that should new leads emerge, a further probe into the matter would be initiated.

On May 24, the state government defended the appointment of Asia Mobility Technologies Sdn Bhd — a firm linked to Yeoh's husband — for its Selangor Mobility initiative.

State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said Asia Mobility was one of two companies selected for the DRT pilot project, apart from Badan Bas Coach Sdn Bhd.
