FLY FM recently launched the #MacklemoreInMalaysia movement, taking a stand against the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
The initiative aims to champion artists who condemn this war against humanity, with American rapper Macklemore at the forefront following the release of his powerful resistance anthem, "Hind's Hall".
The campaign, which began on May 17, has rapidly gained momentum, with Malaysians flocking to Macklemore's website to request a concert in Malaysia. Macklemore himself has acknowledged the campaign through the #MacklemoreInMalaysia hashtag.
Fly FM is also seeking the backing of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, known for his firm stance against the genocide.
The radio station hopes his influence will help bring Macklemore to Malaysia, further strengthening public support and awareness.
Fly FM content director Seán Matjeraie emphasised the station's commitment to the cause, saying, "We stand with the people of Palestine in condemning the genocide. Music has the power to unite, and we are committed to amplifying this message of solidarity."
"Macklemore's message resonates deeply with our listeners, and our campaign to bring him here is one of positivity and support towards the people of Palestine," he added.
In addition to Macklemore, Fly FM is highlighting other international artists who have voiced their support for Palestine, such as Ariana Grande, Coldplay, Hozier, and SZA, all of whom have publicly condemned the war in Palestine.
The station is also spotlighting local artists who share this stance, such as Malaysian icons Joe Flizzow and Yuna, showcasing their work and advocacy efforts.
Supporters are encouraged to join the movement by using the hashtag #MacklemoreInMalaysia and requesting Macklemore's show. They are also encouraged to stream "Hind's Hall", with all proceeds going to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The campaign represents a significant cultural moment, uniting global and local artists in a collective call for justice and peace in Palestine.
