NIBONG TEBAL: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today extended his condolences to the family of Pas' Sungai Bakap assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff, who died earlier today.

Zamri died at Hospital Seberang Jaya at 1.38pm, nearly a month after he was treated for inflammation of the stomach.

"I wish to convey my condolences to the late assemblyman's family.

"I have just known him after the state elections last August. We only managed to attend the state legislative assembly sitting once together.

"However, I accepted what had happened," he said after the burial at the Muslim cemetery beside Masjid Jamek Sungai Acheh here this evening.

Chow said the secretary of the state legislative assembly would inform the Election Commission (EC) tomorrow about the vacant seat.

"We will leave it to the EC, in-line with the constitution and legislation," he added.

Earlier, Chow and members of his administration were at Zamri's house in Sungai Acheh to pay their respects to the late assemblyman.
