JOHOR BARU: The 21-year-old suspect in the in Ulu Tiram police station attack is expected to be buried tomorrow.
Police have not released details about the suspect to the public.
The suspect's body remains at Sultan Ismail Hospital's mortuary.
It is learnt that his mother, who was remanded yesterday, was taken to the mortuary to identify the suspect's body.
The New Straits Times' efforts to get state Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid to confirm that the state would claim the suspect's body on his family's behalf and conduct a burial was futile.
It is learnt that the suspect will be buried at the Kampung Sungai Tiram Muslim cemetery in Batu 19.
The suspect's father, mother, two sisters and elder brother have been remanded.
Also remanded were two students, a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, who went to the Ulu Tiram police station just before the attack to lodge a report.
Johor police chief M. Kumar confirmed that security measures had been beefed up at police stations and key areas.
He said the main gates of police stations would be closed at 10pm.
"Stations operate for 24 hours, but the main gates will be closed."
In the 2.45am attack on Friday, constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, were killed, while Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan was injured.
Police has ruled out a link to the Jemaah Islamiyah group, describing the suspect as a "lone wolf" who acted as on his own motivations.
