JOHOR BARU: Coronade Properties Sdn Bhd (CPSB) and Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd (MRT Corps) yesterday inked a memorandum of understanding to construct a pedestrian overhead bridge.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke witnessed the signing ceremony between CPSB corporate relations director Datin Alinah Ahmad and RTS Link project director Zulkifli Mohamed, who represented MRT Corp.

The overhead bridge will provide commuters with a seamless and direct link between the RTS Link Bukit Chagar station and Coronation Square.

Alinah said direct access to the Bukit Chagar RTS Link station is one of the key features of the Coronation Square development.

The 210m overhead pedestrian walkway construction is borne by CPSB.

"With the bridge, it will take commuters five minutes to walk to the RTS station from the square," she said at the RTS Link project information centre at Menara JLand here today (April 25).

The fully integrated Coronation Square development will feature 4,500 parking lots, with 700 carpark bays exclusively reserved for RTS Link users.

The development of the square with six signature tower blocks will include residential and service apartments, hotels, financial tower, healthcare and a mall.

The RM5 billion project in the heart of Johor Baru and flanked by Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Trus, is the centrepiece of the Ibrahim International Business District.

Launched by His Majesty Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, in 2015, this integrated development is designed to transform and revitalise the 101ha site within Johor Baru city centre.
