ALOR STAR: Kedah Perikatan Nasional government is ready to welcome Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the state-level Madani Aidilfitri Open House 2024 to be held on May 4.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said Anwar is also expected to attend a briefing session on the state's wish list.

"We are ready to present the state government's wish list to the prime minister during his official visit to Wisma Darul Aman in the afternoon before the Aidilfitri open house in Jitra that evening.

"We have prepared the list, hopefully they will be fulfilled," Sanusi told reporters at the Menteri Besar's Aidilfitri open house held in Seri Mentaloon official residence here today.

Sanusi added that the state government is also extending its full cooperation to the federal government in organising the Madani open house.

The prime minister is set to attend Madani Aidilfitri open houses in six states: Johor, Sabah, Melaka, Kelantan, Kedah, Penang and Terengganu between April 18 and May 9.

The Madani Aidilfitri open houses to be jointly organised with the respective state governments as the hosts, and selected ministries.

The Prime Minister's office, in a recent statement, said the main objective of the event is to nurture the spirit of unity and mutual respect within Malaysian multiracial society and to serve as a platform for leaders to mingle with the people.

Meanwhile, on the menteri besar's open house, Sanusi said the state government estimated some 100,000 crowd will be attending the event. It will be held for five hours from 11am.

Among those present were state assembly speaker Zubir Ahmad, state executive councillors and assemblymen, Kedah members of Parliament and Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
