PARIT BUNTAR: A farmer died after being hit by the harvesting machine he was operating while ploughing the land in Tebuk Haji Musa, Titi Serong, here, yesterday evening.

Kerian District Police Chief, Superintendent Juna Yusoff said the victim, Hirmi Abdul Rahman, 42, who suffered from a broken left arm and whose right leg was crushed, was confirmed dead by the medical team at the scene.

He said the police received a report at 7.15pm and upon arrival at the location, found the victim behind the machine and was covered with a cloth.

"Earlier investigations found that the victim died at the scene after being hit by the harvesting machine.

"The victim's right leg was crushed, suspected to have been caught in the harvester," he said in a statement.

Juna said Hirmi's family members confirmed that the victim often took jobs ploughing around the Titi Serong area.

"When his wife wanted to pick up her husband around 6.30pm, she found him severely injured and asked her sister to call the hospital for help.

"The victim was later taken to Parit Buntar Hospital for post-mortem examination and was categorised as sudden death," he said.
