KUCHING: Two siblings died while two others were injured in an accident involving a multi-purpose vehicle and a cement lorry on Jalan Stumbin, Sri Aman, today.

The victims who died at the scene were identified as Joll Mohamad, 56, and her elder sister, Latifah Mohamad, 62.

A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said that another woman, who was in the MPV, suffered injuries and was rushed to Sri Aman Hospital.

He said the cement lorry driver, Wanlie Baro, 43, who was trapped in his vehicle after it veered into a ditch, sustained minor injuries.

"The Fire Department received a call about 1.30pm and seven members from the Sri Aman Fire Station were dispatched to the location, which is 32km away.

"Upon arrival at the scene, a cement lorry and a Proton Exora were found to have collided," he said.

He added that the bodies of both victims were handed over to the police.
