SIBU: Hospital Sibu has been provided with 185 pieces of medical machinery and health facilities, courtesy of the Rotary Club Bintulu Central (RCBC) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

The donation, valued at RM486,000, is part of the 'Delivery Hope, Touching More Lives' project.

Sibu Hospital Director Dr Nanthakumar Thirunavukkarasu, expressed his gratitude and emphasised the critical need for such assets to maintain and enhance the level of healthcare services for the public.

"These contributions are pivotal in ensuring that our service delivery remains at an optimum level, benefiting our patients and improving the welfare and working conditions of our staff," he said during the donation ceremony held at the hospital on Thursday.

The donated items include advanced medical equipment such as an electrocardio scanner, keratometer/refractometer, gastroscope, and transport incubator, alongside non-clinical assets like air conditioners, exhaust fans, and ceiling fans.

Nanthakumar also recalled RCBC's previous contributions of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 outbreak, which played a vital role in curbing the spread of the virus and safeguarding healthcare workers.
