PUTRA JAYA: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has announced a dividend rate of 3.60 per cent for the National Education Savings Scheme (Sim pan SSPN) 2023.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the declared dividend involved an estimated allocation of RM357.65 mil lion, which will benefit 6.52 million Simpan SSPN account depositors.

He said the total distribution amount was RM1.69 billion, higher than the 3.05 per cent distribution in 2022.

He said the higher dividend pay ment demonstrated PTPTN's efficiency in managing savings funds effectively based on excellent, integrity-driven and strategic management practices aimed at ensur ing optimal returns.

"The higher dividend payment is supported by positive investment returns, with investment profits from deposit investments for 2023 totalling RM446.22 million," he said at the 2023 Simpan SSPN dividend announcement press conference at the Higher Education Ministry here yesterday.

Present were Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Zaini Ujang, PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim and PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid.

The dividend payments will be directly credited to PTPTN savings accounts.

Depositors can check their statements through the myPTPTN mobile application starting today.

This year, the total Simpan SSPN deposit is RM3.15 billion, with 513,002 new accounts recorded.

Zambry said the rise in dividend rates aligned with the increase in the overnight policy rate set by Bank Negara Malaysia, which was increased by 0.25 per cent last year.

He said the total accumulated deposits in Simpan SSPN from 2004 to Dec 31 last year amounted to RM17.39 billion, involving 6.25 million accounts.

"This outstanding performance shows the continuous confidence and support of depositors."
