KUALA LUMPUR: The management of Prima Saujana Kajang mosque in Kajang near here has issued an apology after sounding the Maghrib azan four minutes early due to technical problem.

The mosque's nazir, Mohamad Asri Harun, in a statement today, confirmed the matter.

He added that congregants and residents who rely on the azan or call to prayer from the mosque to break their fast should replace their fast since it is considered void due to the error.

"The management of the mosque has also referred the matter to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department," the statement said.

At press time, the New Straits Times is still waiting for comments from the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar over the incident.
