KUALA LUMPUR: A thunderstorm wreaked havoc in the city tonight, uprooting trees and damaging 14 cars, said the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department.

The department received reports from eight locations around the city, according to a statement received by the New Straits Times.

Near Sekolah Sukan Bukit Jalil, a tree fell on five vehicles, while in Taman Tasik Damai, two vehicles were similarly affected. Another tree toppled onto a Toyota Vios near the Eco Shop on Jalan Radin, while in Taman Gembira, two cars met a similar fate.

In Bandar Baru Sri Petaling and Bukit Jalil, two cars each fell victim to uprooted trees.

Additionally, the storm's impact extended to a number of residential areas, with trees damaging three homes in Taman Salak Selatan and Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, also causing disruptions to power cables
