KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deepest sympathies through Facebook for the passing of Anne Ooi, also known as 'Aunty Bersih', who died at the age of 78 yesterday.

In his post, Anwar honoured Ooi's courage and resilience in the face of adversity, noting that her legacy would continue to inspire Malaysians to strive for a more just and equitable society.

"I remember her not only as a persistent activist but also as an example to the next generation to continue pushing for change," he said.

Anwar also extended his deepest sympathies to Ooi's bereaved family, acknowledging the profound loss that her passing represents for the nation.

Ooi represents thousands, if not millions, of ordinary Malaysian citizens who care enough about our nation to speak up and take action when things are not right.
