JERANTUT: A Felda settler who was found dead after a concrete wall collapsed on him inside an empty house where he had earlier gone to clean the back portion of the premises at Felda Kota Gelanggi 1 near here on March 13.

The body of Mohd Asri Azam, 41, was found under the collapsed wall by his 75-year-old mother. She became suspicious when her son failed to respond to her calls.

District police chief Superintendent Azman Mat Kamis said police were alerted about the incident at 8pm and found the victim's body on the floor pinned by the collapsed wall.

"The victim's mother informed police that her son had gone to clean the area behind the vacant house, which is located beside their house, at about 2.30pm.

"At about 7pm, she called out to her son to return home to break fast but did not receive any reply. When she went to look for him, she found him lying under the collapsed wall," he said.

Azman said Asri's body was taken to Jerantut Hospital and a post-mortem revealed he died of severe injuries to the neck.

He said police had classified the case as sudden death.

Meanwhile, a Jerantut Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the Jerantut station was alerted about the incident at 9.07pm and went to the scene but the victim was pronounced dead by a medical team.
