KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign woman suffered 30 per cent burns on her face and body, while her child sustained minor injuries after they were set on fire by two men at a playground in Kampung Cheras Baru, Cheras here, last Saturday.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the victim's husband, also a foreigner, lodged a report at 1.34am on Sunday.

"Investigations found that the victim, aged 32, had gone to the playground to fetch her 2-year-old son at 10.30pm last Friday.

"There she met two foreign men, aged 26 and 35, whom she knew, and both were intoxicated. One of the suspects told the woman to buy them some petrol in a bottle.

"When the victim handed over the bottle containing petrol, they splashed it on the victim and ignited it," he said in a statement today.

Zam Halim said the victim, who holds a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card, is receiving treatment at a hospital.

"The victim's son was reported to have suffered only minor injuries. The motive of the incident is under investigation.

"Police are tracking down the two suspects for further investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code," he said.
