JOHOR BARU: Three people died, and two were badly injured when a trailer crashed into three vehicles in the opposite lane at Km18.8 of the Pasir Gudang Highway, here, today.

Two drivers and a passenger, aged between 40 and 70, were killed on the spot, while another driver and the trailer driver in their 30s were rushed to the Sultan Ismail Hospital with severe injuries.

Johor Baru (south) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the 2.21am crash, the trailer driver from Tanjung Pelepas was heading towards Pasir Gudang, when he lost control of the vehicle.

He crashed into the road barriers on the far-right lane, and veered into the opposite side of the highway. He then crashed into a Perodua Alza, Myvi and Honda Accord heading towards Perling.

Raub said the crash was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
