KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corporation Bhd (Malakoff) won gold at the Anugerah Integriti, Governans dan Anti Rasuah 2023 (AIGA 2023) for its outstanding commitment to governance and integrity policies within the organisation.

The award ceremony was organised by the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (MIM).

This recognition highlights Malakoff's excellence in upholding the ISO37001 Anti-Bribery Management System and the ISO31000 Enterprise Risk Management Guideline certification while managing the Integrity and Governance Unit efficiently.

Malakoff Risk, Process Improvement and Integrity Department head Adi Faimi Mohamed Haneef received the award from MIM director Profesor Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir at the AIGA 2023 award ceremony.

Focused on implementing the National Anti-Corruption Plan initiative, Malakoff, in a statement, said this award aimed to cultivate ethics and a culture of integrity within organisations.

"It serves as a platform for fostering healthy competition among public and corporate sector entities, promoting values of integrity, governance and anti-corruption.

"The award also aligns with government initiatives to enhance Malaysia's standing in the Corruption Perceptions Index and build a reputation for the country based on integrity rather than corruption."

Marking its third consecutive year, the award ceremony saw active participation from 154 organisations throughout Malaysia.

This year, the spotlight shone on 46 distinguished organisations that have earned the coveted gold recognition, where among them, three were companies under MMC Group — Malakoff, Northport Malaysia Bhd and Johor Port Bhd.

Additionally, 33 organisations were honoured with the silver distinction, while 48 companies received the bronze accolade.

Commenting on the recognition, Malakoff managing director and group chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said he was proud of the remarkable achievement.

"As we shift our focus to being more environmentally, socially and governance conscious, it is crucial for Malakoff to have a strong corporate governance setup.

"This ensures we stick to principles of integrity and transparency in everything we do. We are guided by the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance and follow best practices from regulators in all the countries we operate in.

"I extend my gratitude to the
entire Malakoff team for exemplifying high integrity.

"The recognition, obtained through last year's audit session, underscores Malakoff's excellence in transparency and compliance evaluation. It signifies our collective commitment to exceeding expectations in these fundamental aspects of corporate governance."

In 2021, Malakoff received the ISO37001:2016 ABMS certification from SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd.

This certification recognises Malakoff's commitment to upholding ethical standards, integrity and accountability in all business
activities, aligning with the new Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Amendment Act 2018.

Malakoff was also honoured with the 2021 Asean Corporate Governance Score card Award in the Asean Asset Class Award category, making it one of the 54 Malaysian Public Listed Companies among the 234 Asean winners.
