GUA MUSANG: A woman who suffered serious injuries after the motorcycle she was riding with her husband and two children crashed into a cow five days ago, died today.

The woman was riding pillion in the incident which happened at Kampung Paloh here on Feb 21.

District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the 31-year-old woman died while receiving treatment at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian.

"Due to her serious injuries, the victim was transferred from Kuala Krai hospital to HUSM but she died about 2.30am today," he said in a statement.

He added the victim and her two daughters, aged four and seven, were riding pillion on the bike when the crash occured about 5.30pm.

"Four of them, including the victim's husband, aged 28, were heading to Kampung Paloh 3 from Kampung Paloh 2 when suddenly a cow crossed the road.

"The incident caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the bike and they rammed into the cow.

He added the woman suffered serious injuries on her face and head.

"The man and the two girls also suffered injuries and are warded at the Kuala Krai hospital," he added.

He said police are investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987.

He also urged.eye-witnesss to come forward to provide information on the incident to the police.

"Police would like to remind livestock owners not to release their animals freely especially near the roadside as the animals will pose a danger to motorists," he added.
