KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Health Department has denied organising donations for the Tangkarason health clinic in Beluran.

The facility, which caters to about 3,000 people, was destroyed in a fire on Feb 15.

State health director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna clarified, in a statement, that the campaign, which went viral on social media, did not come from the department.

"The department is always committed to ensuring that health services are accessible to the public at all times.

"In connection with that, the clinic's operational services have been temporarily moved to the Kampung Tangkarason multipurpose hall and will start operating on Monday (Feb 19)," he said.

He said the State Health Department, together with the Health Ministry, will ensure that the welfare of the health personnel involved is always taken care of.

In addition, he said two staff members whose quarters were destroyed in the fire have received assistance to alleviate their financial burden.

They have been accommodated in a nearby homestay and receive psychological first aid (PFA) support.
