KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry today issued stern warning against irresponsible quarters involved in gangsterism and other activities that disrupt public order in the country.

Its minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail issued the reminder when he said that those involved in such activities will not escape arrest by the police.

Saifuddin said this when he confirmed that police will investigate the claims made by Julau member of Parliament Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien on the gangsterism activities at his constituency in Sarawak.

"I was informed of the matter personally by the Julau MP. And I have also relayed the matter to the Inspector-General of Police (Tan Sri Razarudin Husain).

"The claims that such activities exist at the constituency will not be overlooked in our investigation into the case.

"Let the police investigate the matter. Investigation has begun and I have faith that the police will resolve the issue," he told reporters after visiting the General Operations Force's Central Brigade headquarters in Cheras near here today.

Present was Razarudin.

The Julau MP yesterday took to his Facebook to highlight the situation at his constituency.

In the social media posting, he urged Bukit Aman to come down hard on gangsters who have turned his constituency into a 'Wild Wild West'.

He alleged that gangsters operated online gambling in both Pakan and Julau districts. He also claimed that the gangsters run illicit activities including selling drugs and contraband cigarettes, liquor as well as illegal money lending.
