KANGAR: Water reserve in the Timah Tasoh Dam is expected to last for another three months as Perlis and the northern states are undergoing prolonged dry spell due to the El Nino phenomenon.

State Infrastructure and Public Transport Committee chairman Izizam Ibrahim said for now the dam's level is adequate to cater for the demand.

"To date, the latest water level is recorded at 28.57m or 25.5 millions cubic litres at 84 per cent of its capacity.

"It is a slight decrease from the normal level of 29.1m and based on our observation the decrease is about 0.02m daily. We expect the water reserve will be able to last for the next 90 days," he said when met at the State Legislative Assembly building here yesterday.

He added the reserve is sufficient to cover for domestic demand and padi fields irrigation.

"Although in general the water level is classified as good, we are still hopeful that there will be raining soon.
