JOHOR BARU: The voting process for the 2024 Indonesian general election at the Consulate General of Indonesia here ran smoothly without any unwanted incidents.

Johor Baru overseas election implementation coordinator Ardiyanshah Syahrom said a total of 2,684 individuals participated in the early voting process for registered voters.

He said the Johor Baru consulate also managed the election through mobile ballot boxes involving Indonesian citizens in four states: Johor, Pahang, Negri Sembilan and Melaka, which began on Feb 5.

"The election, through drop boxes conducted in Indonesian community settlements, including factories and plantations in these four states, has collected 55,000 votes as of yesterday.

"In total, there are 119,491 eligible Indonesian voters in these four states, with Johor having the highest number at 90,666 individuals.

"The voting process today involved 2,684 voters in Johor Bahru, divided into four sessions to avoid congestion and ensure the safety of the voting process," he said during a media briefing at the consulate today.

Ardiyanshah expressed deep gratitude to the authorities, particularly the police, for their continuous cooperation with the consulate election team in facilitating the voting process.

He said all parties, including employers from companies, factories and plantations involving Indonesian workers, have also shown good cooperation.

"The drop boxes from three states, namely Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Pahang will also be brought to the consulate for the vote-counting process conducted on Feb 14.

"The vote counting for the drop boxes and voting places will commence at 1pm on Feb 14 for 24 hours, with the assistance of 1,364 overseas election implementation group officers in 85 vote counting rooms.

"By God's will, we have received excellent cooperation from the police and employers for the 2024 presidential voting process," he said.
