KUCHING: Former Yang di-Pertua Sarawak Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, who was discharged from Normah Medical Specialist Centre in Kuching last week, is now said to be in Kuala Lumpur.

Sources said the 87-year-old was brought to the capital city via a special flight yesterday afternoon.

However, it is unclear whether he is in Kuala Lumpur to receive more medical treatment as his health is said to still be unstable.

After being discharged from Normah Medical Specialist Centre at midnight last Saturday, Abdul Taib had received treatment in his home in Demak Jaya, here.

Last Wednesday, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg confirmed that doctors and nurses from the medical centre were being stationed in Abdul Taib's residence to monitor his condition.

After he was brought out from the intensive care unit last Saturday, a doctor at the medical centre lodged a police report alleging that Abdul Taib, who was still undergoing treatment, was forcibly taken back to his home.

After the doctor's report, Abdul Taib's brother, Datuk Mohamad Tufail Mahmud, also filed another police report.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed on Wednesday that the police had received eight reports related to the issue.

He said the investigations were being conducted under Section 336 of the Penal Code.
