KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Youth Council has called on all Malaysians to participate in the Global Day of Action for Gaza: "Ceasefire Now, Stop the War on Gaza" on Saturday to demonstrate support and solidarity to Gaza.

Its information chief Mohamad Fazril Mohd Saleh said this was to urge a lasting ceasefire to stop the genocide and end Israel's occupation as well as its apartheid policies.

Mohamad Fazril said the rising death toll of the Palestinians had now exceeded 20,000 people, including women, children, the elderly, journalists, and the United Nations (UN) personnel, with many more still missing or presumed dead.

"As a result, an estimated 1.7 million Palestinians have lost their homes, facing hunger and exposure to various disease threats.

"The international community has failed to demand Israel to cease its attacks and impose a ceasefire to end the killing of thousands, ensuring immediate humanitarian aid reaches the people of Gaza."

He stressed that while the world rallied against the massacres perpetrated by Israel, they remained resilient in the bombings and dismissing global demands.

Fazril also said some of the places bombed included the residences, healthcare facilities, public infrastructure, as well as facilities built by the UN.

"Representing the youth of Malaysia, we call on all citizens to express their stance, show support, and intensify efforts in various ways to end this war.

"It is unimaginable in today's world how a country like Israel, which massacres and slaughters people every day, can be permitted to continue for over 100 days," said Fazril in a statement today.

He said the Jan 13 gathering would take place near the United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur from 12pm to 3pm.
