KUALA LUMPUR: The seven-day 'Imam Familiarisation Trip: Explore Muslim-Friendly Malaysia' opens the door in enhancing cultural exchange and fostering mutual understanding between Malaysia and China.

The unique trip, which saw the imams welcomed by Tourism, Arts and Culture deputy minister Firdaus Akbar Khan at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2, saw the arrival of 35 imams from 14 provinces in China, this morning.

The programme, organised by the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) and Malaysian Inbound Chinese Association (MICA) aims to explore Malaysia's rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and vibrant traditions, along with its Muslim-friendly tourism and hospitality offerings.

As ambassadors of Muslim-friendly tourism, their visit aims to attract 30 million Muslim residents from China to Malaysia.

During their seven-day visit to Malaysia, the imams would be taken to seven iconic mosques and several renowned tourist spots across the country, including a durian orchard in Bentong, Pahang.

The familiarisation trip also seeks to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and China while promoting the welcoming nature of Malaysia as a premier tourist destination for Muslim tourists.
