PEKAN: A plantation worker who was reported missing after his motorcycle skidded and landed into a rain-swollen ditch at the Sungai Bebar Utara oil palm plantation here, was found drowned today.

The remains of Muhammad Adhwa Haslan, 31, was recovered by search and rescue (SAR) operation members at about 10.20am.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said Adhwa's remains was found about 100 m from the spot he was reported missing yesterday.

"The department's Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) divers found his remains at a depth of three meters. His remains have been handed to the police," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Pekan district police chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said Adhwa's motorcycle was recovered at the spot where he fell down yesterday.

In the 4.55pm incident yesterday, Adhwa was on his way home to the workers quarters when the road was submerged. He attempted to ride through the flooded stretch which was under 0.33m of water.

The victim lost control of his machine before he veered and fell into the ditch. He was immediately swept by the strong currents.
