IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has given his assurance that investors in the state will not run away despite the puported 'Dubai Move' to topple the unity government.

"This is among the challenges that we need to face because not everybody likes us doing good things.

"But that should not be a problem because I am confident that investors will continue to invest in Perak because I have convinced them that Perak is a stable state.

"This is proven after a year of chairing the state executive councillor meeting and we managed to launch Perak Sejahtera 2030. We have reported our development and progress on what we are going to develop," he said.

He told reporters after witnessing a joint venture agreement between Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak, Perak Corp and Advancecon Holdings Bhd for the development of Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP) at Casuarina Hotel @ Meru here, today.

Saarani said that barely a year after the cooperation of the unity government in Perak, the number of investors who came in to invest in the state was promising.

"When we say we want to develop the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim, Geely came. And when we said we wanted to develop the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC), the European Union (EU) came.

"When we say we want to develop Kerian, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) announced that there will be a high-technology park there. And now we are developing SVTP.

"This shows that we are not rhetorical and we believe that investors are confident in us. Any challenges that we face, we do not simply give up.

"So to investors, they don't have to be worried because we will continue with our plans. I am a politician and used to be an opposition leader but I will not do anything that can cause the investors to run away," he said.

After the infamous Sheraton move and the London move, now a 'Dubai move' has emerged, purportedly orchestrated by opposition leaders including certain government representatives, with the same goal of toppling the unity government led by Anwar.

Revealing the attempt, the Community Communications Department (J-KOM) deputy director (community communications) Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that the Dubai move surfaced during the recent vacation of leaders from Perikatan Nasional (PN), including government officials, in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
