KANGAR: The statement by Community Communications Department (J-KOM) deputy director (community communications), Datuk Ismail Yusop, alleging the existence of a 'Dubai move' by opposition leaders to overthrow the government is seen as an attempt to create tension and division among the people.

Arau member of parliament, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said this and added that the claim is an effort to divert attention from the real issues faced by J-KOM, which previously dealt with moral issues involving the department's director.

Shahidan said that he would file a police report against Ismail for trying to create tension among the people by implicating certain Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders in this matter.

"Does this Dubai move really exist? Because what I see is that he (Datuk Ismail Yusop) has already created tension, and it is an unwise and thoughtless act as he arbitrarily accuses certain individuals of being traitors while calling on the police to take action.

"The real traitor is the J-KOM deputy director himself, who intentionally promotes division and fear among the people, alleging that there is a movement trying to overthrow the government and accusing us (PN) as traitors," he said.

He made these remarks after attending the New Year's Eve Run 2024 in conjunction with Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025 at Denai Larian Pengkalan Asam, here, yesterday.

Shahidan, who is also a member of the Pas Central Working Committee, said that Ismail is not qualified to hold the position of Deputy Director of J-KOM because he only knows how to spread slander and divert attention from the moral issues that plagued J-KOM before.

"He, as J-KOM deputy director, is not fit for the position because he only knows how to spread slander and accuse others as traitors.

"So, if the Prime Minister wants an effective communication platform with the people, then Ismail should be dismissed because he only adds tension to the people with baseless accusations," he said.

Earlier, Ismail revealed the alleged existence of a 'Dubai move', claiming that opposition party leaders, including certain government representatives, were behind it, with the same goal of overthrowing the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The plan was said to have emerged when PN leaders– including government officials– were on vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently.

His claim was that the meeting was held to discuss and assign specific tasks to 'officials' responsible for identifying members of parliament who might potentially switch support to the opposition, solely to establish a "backdoor" government.

In addition to PN leaders, he alleged the involvement of influential veteran political figures and "Tuns" colluding with the opposition, including using 'foreign sources' to overthrow the administration led by Anwar.
