PUTRAJAYA: Pupils will be permitted to wear school uniforms for only two days a week for the 2024/2025 school term.

Additionally, they will have two days designated for sports attire and one day for curriculum attire.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the decision on the 2024 school uniform guideline was made following responses from various stakeholders.

"The decision is made after engagement sessions with all parties, including parents, industry players, teachers, and the community.

"I feel that their views are significant when we are deciding on and making the decision on the school uniform (for two days).

"The other two days are for sports attire, followed by one day of curriculum attire," she told reporters after the Education Ministry 2024 Mandate Ceremony, here, today.

She added that schools should be given the autonomy to decide on the days when pupils would be required to wear school uniforms.

Fadhlina added that a circular letter and further information would be issued later.

On May 3, last year, the ministry allowed students, teachers and members of the implementation group in all its educational institutions to wear sports attire due to the hot weather.

The special permission was intended to avoid any health complications.
