KUALA LUMPUR: Firemen from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Shah Alam stations had to rush to a factory near the airport in Sepang after receiving reports of a gas leak early today.

The KLIA team which was the first to arrive after a report was received at 3.10am, found that pure acid gas was leaking from a 20 metric tonne tank.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said a hazardous materials (Hazmat) team from Shah Alam, which arrived later, managed to contain the leak by transferring the gas to replacement tanks provided by the factory.

No injuries were reported in the incident, it said.
