KUALA LUMPUR: Affirming its dedication to humanitarian causes, Media Prima Bhd (MPB), through the Media Prima Palestinian Humanitarian Fund, has donated RM524,551.75 to non-governmental organisation (NGO), Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare).

This substantial contribution is directed towards providing essential relief to Palestinians adversely affected by the actions of the Israeli military in Gaza, highlighting Media Prima's unwavering commitment to humanitarian endeavours.

The general manager of Media Prima Group Corporate Communications and the Group Chairman's Office, Azlan Abdul Aziz, represented the donors and formally handed over the contribution cheque to a member of MyCare's Board of Trustees, Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan.

The funds will be utilised to procure essential medications and deliver much-needed humanitarian assistance to those facing distress.

Fauziah emphasised the donation's focus on addressing the critical needs of the Palestinian people.

"Numerous essential items are crucial, and thanks to the support from the Media Prima fund, we are directing half of it towards medical needs, that would cover medications and medical equipment like disposables.

"The remaining half is earmarked for acquiring fundamental food items such as wheat, rice, canned goods, and more— considered as basic necessities," she explained during today's interview.

In addition to the donation, Fauziah disclosed that MyCare is actively working to secure an ambulance and transportation for Gazans, ensuring access to medical assistance in Egypt if needed.

"Our chairman and chief executive officer took a hands-on approach, personally visiting the factory where the acquired van is being transformed into an ambulance. They have confirmed that the two ambulances we commissioned will be ready by Jan 1, 2024.

"Our sincere prayers are for a ceasefire, and, God willing, we will expedite the deployment of both ambulances."

She also mentioned that MyCare plans to purchase 500 tents and blankets to function as temporary shelters, especially during the winter season.

MPB maintains its steadfast dedication to actively supporting individuals and victims affected by the tragic events in Palestine.

The collaboration with reputable non-governmental agencies and organisations with a proven track record in the region solidifies its commitment.

The public is encouraged to contribute donations to the Media Prima Palestinian Humanitarian Fund through Muamalat Bank account: 1401 0008 8447 15 or Maybank: 5642 7651 0331.
