KUALA LUMPUR: Power Root Sdn Bhd today contributed RM250,000 to the Media Prima Palestinian Humanitarian Fund.

The contribution, aimed at raising public awareness about the current Israel-Palestinian conflict in Gaza, will also be continued in the coming months through the purchase of Power Root's Oligo products.

Power Root co-chairman Tengku Datuk Putra Al-Haj Tengku Azman Shah Al-Haj said 50 sen from every purchase of powder-format drink products and 10 sen for each purchase of ready-to-drink products, starting March 1, would be passed on to the humanitarian fund.

"We hope that through this collaboration, we can channel some assistance to residents of Gaza and express our solidarity with them.

"We will also continue the initiative to donate and raise awareness (about the conflict) through the purchase of products if we receive good feedback from the public.

"Meanwhile, there will also be no expiry date (as to when the initiative will end) as we are not certain on when the conflict will end," he told reporters after the cheque presentation for the fund and launch of the Oligo brand ambassador, today.

Present to receive the cheque was Media Prima Group corporate communications general manager Azlan Abdul Aziz.

Azlan said the group has so far distributed about RM1.9 million to Palestine from public donations and will continue such initiatives through collaborations with its non-governmental organisations partners such as the Malaysian Medical Relief Society (Mercy Malaysia), Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) and Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA).

"We are grateful for the donation given (by Power Root) and so far. We will continue the efforts and campaigns to assist the Palestinians with our NGO partners," he said.

Media Prima Bhd maintains its steadfast dedication to actively supporting individuals and victims affected by the tragic events in Palestine.

Members of the public who wish to contribute to the Media Prima Palestinian Humanitarian Fund can do so through Muamalat Bank account: 14010008844715 or Maybank: 564276510331.

Meanwhile, Power Root collaborated with national track cycling champion Datuk Azizulhasni Awang as the Oligo brand ambassador.

During the launch of Oligo's chocolate malt drink today, Putra Alhaj said Azizulhasni, famously known as the "Pocket Rocketman" was appointed due to his tenacious fighting spirit in the sport of track cycling.

"His spirit represents the same commitment as Oligo that provides sufficient energy and nutrients to its consumers.

"He is also a resilient national athlete that is always moving forward and we hope to see him win his first Olympic gold medal."
