KUALA LUMPUR: Family of the 17-year-old student who was killed after being hit by a car driven by a senior police officer, is pleading for the public's support to locate eye witnesses who were at the scene.
The boy's sister Zetty Zamrie posted requesting the witnesses to come forward and lodge a police report which would help them to seek justice over the death of Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie.
She said there were so many people at the scene including students, parents waiting to pick up their children and those going to the mosque.
"As I was helping out my brother, many said he was purposely hit, but due to the situation I could not focus on who actually said it.
"I humbly request and beg you to help me to uphold justice for my late brother.
"Show us some kindness, help us. My parents lost their youngest child," she said in a Facebook posting earlier today.
She said her family accepted that Zaharif was no longer with them, but could accept those who had caused his death.
The post garnered over one thousand shares with many expressing their condolences to the family.
In the 12.30pm incident, the victim was on his way home in Chemor from his school, SMK Jati in Meru.
It is understood that before the incident, there was an altercation involving the police officer who was driving a Perodua Ativa and the teenager, who was allegedly who was making noise through his motorcycle.
Subsequent events led to the 44-year-old police officer chasing the victim for almost a kilometre before crashing into the teenager from behind.
Due to the impact, the victim fell, was dragged almost five metres and died at the scene later.
Police confirmed to have arrested the senior officer.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving and also Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
