PASIR SALAK: In a heart-wrenching incident, a trio of boys aged 11, three, and a 10-month-old infant, along with their six-year-old sister, were discovered abandoned in front of the Perak Tengah Administrative Complex yesterday.

Their grandmother allegedly abandoned them.

Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police were alerted of the incident when a Kampung Gajah Welfare Department officer lodged a report yesterday at 5.39pm.

"A security guard informed the officer that an unknown woman travelling in a Toyota car had left the four siblings at the guard post.

"The officer said there were three boys aged 11, a three- and 10-month-old baby, and a six-year-old girl.

"During questioning, the 11-year-old boy disclosed that they were allegedly chased away by their grandmother from Kampung Kuchai, Bota. The unknown woman then drove them to the administrative complex," said Hafezul in a statement.

He added that the officer promptly took the children to the children's shelter home in Gopeng for further care and attention.

"Police are investigating the case, and we are also tracking down the siblings' parents or guardians.

"Those who have any information about the case should contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Hanif Dzulkifli, at 012-647 7452," Hafezul added.
