KUALA LUMPUR: The 2022 Auditor General's Report found seven schools in Sabah and Sarawak are using buildings and spaces that have been declared unsafe by the Public Works Department (PWD).

The seven schools are SK Binsulok, SK Pomotodon, SK Gayang, SK Pekan Kimanis, and SK Buit Hill in Sabah; SK Ng. Tada and SK Penghulu Imban in Sarawak.

Auditor General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi said in the seven schools, 12 buildings and rooms were still in use involving six Teaching and Learning (PdP) rooms, one student dormitory and five administrative blocks.

The audit review further found that five schools are still in the pre-construction stage, while two schools were under construction with the progress of work on site ranging from 69.2 per cent to 79.5 per cent completed.

"The audit found that the schools are still using buildings and spaces that have been confirmed to be unsafe due to the lack of space in the school for the temporary placement of students.

"In addition, there are schools that are using special buildings and spaces as classrooms, but some of the temporary placements are not conducive," she said.
