KUALA LUMPUR: The United Kingdom-based Liberal International (LI) has removed Parti Keadilan Rakyat's name and logo from the organisation's website.

This followed a request made by the party on the matter.

PKR Information chief Fahmi Fadzil in a post on X application wrote: "PKR is not a member of Liberal International.

"Checks found no Keadilan logo on the organisation's website," he said.

At an event in Lembah Pantai earlier today, Fahmi said the organisation has agreed to PKR's request for the party's name and logo to be removed from the website.

"The removal of the logo was done half an hour ago. I have contacted Liberal International to request that the name and logo of PKR be removed from the organisation's website," he told reporters today.

Fahmi, who is Communications and Digital Minister, said Liberal International also noted that PKR is not a member of their organisation.

Checks as of 6pm on the website found that PKR's name and logo are no longer available on the website in the Asia section.

Fahmi also posted a screen recording of a user logging on to the Liberal International's website showing that PKR's name and logo was not part of its members.

Yesterday, Fahmi said the party made an official request to Liberal International to take down the party's name and logo from the website.

While stressing upon the fact that PKR has nothing to do with Liberal International, Fahmi had said the party never paid any membership fees to the organisation, and it has never been been invited to the organistion's annual general meetings as it was never a member.

The issue had gone viral on social media when claims were made by several parties that PKR was linked with Liberal International, an organisation that was believed to have supported Israel.

Liberal International is an international organisation of liberal political parties worldwide founded in Oxford in 1947. It serves as a major network for liberal parties aimed at strengthening liberalism globally.
