KUALA LUMPUR: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) director-general Sutekno Ahmad Belon is calling for frequent implementation of youth-focused programmes, constructive and healthy activities in efforts to curb drug abuse and juvenile crimes.

"The content of the programme should emphasise on strengthening their knowledge on the danger of drugs, value development, self-identity, resilience and leadership.

"The involvement of educational institutions, be it schools or higher learning institutions, is the best medium to reach out to adolescents and youths in terms of conveying messages of awareness about the danger and consequences of drug addiction," he said, in his speech during the official launch of the 'Comprehensive Campaign Towards A Drug-Free Malaysia And Juvenile Crime 2023' today.

Sutekno recommended Malaysian youths to actively participate in volunteering activities under the Anti-Drug Squad (Skuad Antidadah).

Set to act as catalyst for positive change within the community, Sutekno said the "One Million Anti-Drug Squad Campaign," welcomed youths to register as volunteers of the squad.

Furthermore, he also acknowledged the remarkable efforts of the Malaysia Narcotics-Crime Eradication Organisation (PJNM) in the realm of early awareness education on drugs and crimes.

Sutekno affirmed that Nada fully supports PJNM's efforts since 2012, which had been collectively working to help the government eradicate drug-related issues, especially among teenagers, students and parents, in line with the 'Drug Prevention Starts at Home' concept.
