KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised the significance of the development of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) assets and the Armed Forces Family House (RKAT) project in fortifying the nation's defence and ensuring the highest level of safety for its people.

He said that asset development and housing projects for the armed forces aligned with the government's goal of ensuring well-being based on the Malaysia Madani concept, which would benefit military personnel, their families, and the surrounding community.

"The new complex, along with enhancing existing facilities, is set to provide comfortable housing in Kuala Lumpur at prices below the market rate.

"This will undoubtedly benefit the defence workforce, including the military personnel, veterans, and civilian employees at the Defence Ministry," he said in a social media posting today.

Earlier, the prime minister witnessed the signing of the agreement for the relocation and redevelopment of the Military Police Training Centre (Pulapot), the Army Red Warrior Acrobatic Team (ARW) headquarters and the 12th company of the Royal Military Police Corps camp.

The Defence Ministry (Mindef) will build more than 7,300 housing units under the 'One Military Member, One House' (SASaR) programme at the Wardieburn and Genting Klang Camps in Kuala Lumpur, with prices starting at RM150,000.

Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said this initiative is the project's second phase after the first in Sungai Besi, which is under construction.

He said These housing units, featuring a minimum area of 1,000 square feet, will be built on Mindef land and sold at subsidised prices. However, they are not available for public purchase.

Mohamad emphasised that the construction of these housing units resulted from a smart partnership between Mindef and Platinum Victory Development Sdn Bhd.

The same company is also entrusted with the construction of the ARW camp and Pulapot in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.
